At 842 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located over Kenton, or 11 miles southwest of Martin, moving northeast at 55 mph. HAZARD...Tornado. SOURCE...Radar indicated rotation. IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is likely. Locations impacted include... Mason Hall, Dresden, Mount Pelia, Latham, Cottage Grove, Ruthville, Sharon, Ralston, Shaffner, Rutherford, Brundige, Terrell, Pisgah, Rives, Tyson Store, Matheny Grove, Ore Springs, Kenton, Sidonia, and Hyndsver. Information: TAKE COVER NOW! Move to a storm shelter or an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows. At 831 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near Clayton to near Cloverdale to Unionville, moving northeast at 45 mph. HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees. Locations impacted include... Dyer, Grizzard, South Fulton, Newbern, Fowlkes, Lapata, Bonicord, Ralston, Shaffner, Rohoboth, Terrell, Currie, Georgetown, Edgewood, Laneview, Kenton, Poplar Grove, Spout Springs, Parker, and Lane. Information: A Tornado Watch remains in effect until midnight CDT for west Tennessee. Remain alert for a possible tornado! Tornadoes can develop quickly from severe thunderstorms. North Fork Obion River near Martin For the Obion River...including Martin...Moderate flooding is forecast. * WHAT...Moderate flooding is forecast. This approaches the flood of record. * WHERE...North Fork Obion River near Martin. * WHEN...From Thursday morning to Sunday evening. * IMPACTS...At 22.0 feet, Widespread flooding is occurring in Rives and near Union City. Additional evacuations will be necessary. Agricultural land north of Martin is flooding and equipment and livestock may need to be moved to higher ground. Numerous secondary roads are covered by flood water. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 12:00 PM CDT Wednesday the stage was 5.8 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage late tomorrow morning to a crest of 22.0 feet early Saturday morning. Pay close attention to subsequent forecasts as multiple days of rain will impact the crest and duration of the flooding.
